Princess Bala is the princess of Z's colony, his love interest, and the deuteragonist of DreamWorks' film, Antz. Despite being a princess and having the pampered lifestyle, Bala ultimately realized she needed a little adventure and love when she travelled with Z.

- Bala is fairly similar to Princess Atta: Both are princesses who are the love interests of the film's main protagonists who are outcasts in their colony, they slowly fall in love with them (Z and Flik). The difference is Atta has one sister and Bala is an only child.
